Support full-text indexing
Our application is heavily dependent on it. So this is a blocker right now.
Title says it all
For any application search functionality is minimum and a must have feature. I would like to see this feature on the urgent basis. Please, please include Full-Text search in SQL Azure.
When will FREETEXT Searching be available in SQL Azure?
Free text search is something that we are working on, although not in the near term horizon.

easily my #1 feature request for app dev on azure at this point. If not sql full text, then a fully supported indexing solution like Lucene.Net.
We also need full text search.
Please kindly implement this feature ASAP.
Our customers are asking for full text search all the time, but we cannot add this feature because Azure SQL do not support it...

Are there any updates on this? This "idea" was shared back in 2009 and it was supposedly on the roadmap almost two full years ago.

Lucene.Net on top of SQL Azure is a nice free alternative. http://leoncullens.nl/post/2012/11/18/Full-Text-Search-on-Azure-with-LuceneNET.aspx
We really need FullText search in Azure, for some technicals reasons we can't move on Lucene.NET. We really need that ASAP !!

Full-text is a required feature for our application. We are currently using SQL Azure without the full-text. If full-text is not planned to be released within next 6 months, we will end up moving away from azure. We would like to leverage SQL full-text search and will use other sites if Windows Azure does not offer it soon. Please communicate ETA so that we can plan accordingly. Thanks.
Is someone from Microsoft actually monitoring this website?!? There are tons of outdated posts and very little interaction with Microsoft employees.
Microsoft: if you are asking us for our feedbacks, at least allocate proper resources to keep the community alive!
Wow - I'm still totally amazed that it is now 2013 and SQL Azure STILL DOES NOT HAVE FREETEXT capabilities. We cancelled our Azure account last year, and I see that Microsoft SQL Server SPLA licensing has gone up 74% effectively to run your own SQL Server in the cloud with FREETEXT capabilities. Perhaps you can see why Microsoft have not implemented this feature - it is all to do with money.
issue createdat Dec 2009, responded by Dec 2011, nothing happened and "Although not in the near term horizon" by Dec 2012.
Guys, you do realize this is a min-bar P-0 feature to many of your (potential) clients, right?
Frustrated with lack of attention from Microsoft on this. I found a better solution. Amazon CloudSearch. For less than $100 per month, I can index about 1 million items and get much faster response (Amazon CloudSearch is RAM-based and very very fast) than disk based search.

Unbelievable... free text search is very important for us... Azure is not an option until we get there.

Any news? Full-text indexing is critical to our business.

This is very old now! When can I expect this in SQL Azure?
dates please !

we need to search in a similar way as SQL LIKE. At this point it is a no-go for our company, it is a fundamental feature, otherwise azure is unusable for our needs.
this was marked as planned 9 months ago. Any update yet?
hi, we planned for migrating in january 2013 depending in fulltext additionnal feature?
Is there a date now?

I need FTS too as a lot of our client databases use this. I've just setup a trial with Azure but now realise I can't use FTS. I will also probably switch to AWS as reading this thread it doesn't look like MS are being very responsive.
Just wondering if this is still be investigated given the recent announcements. We don't want to run a full SQL 2012 VM, and would rather use SQL Azure but require FTS. Is there any update on when this might happen?
